So some seem to take issue with my views on AI art in the ACKSII books. I'll just say I think you are kind of dumb and need to settle down if my view triggers you so. I've made my stance on AI known and it isn't changing. So deal with it.
Regardless, I prefaced that I could be wrong but I want to explain why I said what I said in regards to ACKSII. First of all using AI in a product is akin to a bodybuilder who used steroids in his career and either got caught or admitted to it. You can't claim natty ever again and you shouldn't be offended when, if you do claim natty or periods of your career as natty, people just simply do not believe you. It's not to be mean or offensive. It's just rational on the part of the skeptic. So when someone, especially many of you non-artists in the comments, attempt to assure others that this piece of art or that piece of art is not in fact AI, it's like a non lifter trying to assure someone who knows a thing or two that about lifting that so and so is natural.
Let's put it another way with a more crude example. Think back to high school to the girl who gave handies in the bathroom. She may be adamant that she has only ever given handies and is still "a virgin," but forgive me if I don't believe her. It's not an absurd belief to not buy the claims.
I know some don't have a problem with AI. That's fine you can have (bad) tastes like that. It's a free country. But understand I have different tastes therefore different (right) presuppositions I'm working off of than you are.
That said, this video was only about the presentation of the ACKSII books. Not the content of the rules or mechanics themselves which I think are quite a feat to behold. So settle down. More videos to come where I dive more into the books. People are allowed to be a little disappointed in aspects of a product's presentation while still being supportive of a product overall and generally liking it. Art is a facet of an RPG book. I like Classic Traveller which is practically artless!
Same. I'd rather not have art than have AI "art". I already hate the modern full color every page and approach. It's ugly, reduces reading efficiency and makes everything more expensive. A few targeting evocative pen and inks suffices. More is decadent.
I'm not a fan of Macris personally, but ACKS has always interested me for its focus. Disappointing that they would use AI...is it confirmed that AI was used in the production?
